Dr. Jeff Batis, a highly skilled fitness & rehab professional with well over a decade of extensive experience in the field of exercise rehabilitation, training and developing tailored fitness programs, serves as the leader of SkanStrength. His vast expertise covers individuals of all ages and abilities, guiding them through various life stages to achieve optimal health and fitness goals.
With a distinguished education background, Dr. Jeff stands out in the realm of health, fitness, and rehabilitation. His unique combination of a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from SUNY Cortland, a Doctorate of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College, and a recognized Certificate in Sports Science & Human Performance further enhances his ability to provide exceptional service that goes beyond traditional health and fitness practices.

Director of Health & Wellness
Dr. Taylor Flanick (DC) is the driving force behind our Chiropractic services, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. With a strong background in exercise rehabilitation, traditional chiropractic practices, and specialized therapies, Taylor has honed her skills over more than a decade of professional practice. Her experience spans a wide spectrum of clients, from seniors to individuals with paralysis, cancer, Parkinson’s Disease, Osteoporosis, and various musculoskeletal conditions.
In addition to her work with diverse populations, Taylor also specializes in assisting high school, college, and professional athletes in their injury recovery and prevention efforts. Her comprehensive approach incorporates not only chiropractic care but also expertise in exercise physiology, nutrition, and the art of healing. These combined skills make Taylor a standout professional in her field, offering a unique and invaluable perspective on holistic wellness.
Taylor's academic achievements further bolster her credibility, with a B.S. in Health Sciences from Ithaca College, a Doctorate of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College, and a Certificate in Sports Science & Human Performance from the same institution, underlining her commitment to ongoing learning and growth in the field of chiropractic care.
Director of SkanSports
Dan grew up in the Hudson Valley where he began playing baseball at 5 years old and eventually earned a scholarship as a catcher at DII Molloy College.
In 2012, Dan decided to switch gears and transition into coaching as a career path where he transferred to Ithaca College as an Exercise Science major. After graduating #1 in his class Dan spent a year as an intern at Cornell University as a Strength & Conditioning Coach. He worked with athletes in baseball, football, basketball, track and field, and equestrian.
In 2014, Dan earned a Graduate Assistant position at Baylor University, a top 10 Division 1 program in a variety of sports. He worked under the tutelage of an award winning coaching staff including Coach Kaz Kazadi, the country's collegiate "Strength Coach of the Year" in 2013. At Baylor, Dan trained football, tennis, acrobatics & tumbling, and cross-country athletes in the sports performance program.
After graduating Baylor in December of 2015 with a Master's Degree, Dan was offered several positions at Colleges and Universities to become a collegiate Sports Performance Coach. However, Dan decided that he wanted to open his very own facility and chose a different path.
In 2017, he and his family opened up "SkanStrength" in 500sqft. below a local bar in town. Since then, Dan and his family have grown SkanStrength into a 7500sqft. facility offering a variety of fitness, wellness, and sports services.
SkanStrength has since added its sports division, "SkanSports", where Dan serves as the Director while also keeping his skin in the game coaching and training youth and teens.
Dan has over 20 years of combined playing and coaching experience. He has coached countless young people in baseball, fitness, and strength and conditioning. He has worked with individuals across every spectrum such as people with disabilities including down syndrome, autism, mental health disorders and a variety of intellectual disabilities. He has also worked with the areas top high school athletes, collegiate athletes and a few professionals at SkanStrength.
Dan has a B.S. in Exercise Science, a Master's in Sport Pedagogy (Physical Education), and extensive experience coaching and training young people.
Licensed Acupuncturist
After dedicating 11 years to the US Air Force as a translator proficient in Mandarin and Cantonese, and another decade as a skilled CrossFit Coach, James made the decision to pursue an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at Ithaca College.
Building upon his undergraduate studies, James combined his expertise in both areas to earn a Master's degree in East Asian Medicine and Herbal Remedies. He also became a Licensed Acupuncturist, guiding individuals on their unique journeys towards pain management, self-acceptance, and the integration of lifestyle factors in treating various ailments and concerns.
James will serve as your mentor in the realm of meditation, aiding you in developing a consistent practice that enriches your life by fostering internal well-being.

Operations Assistant and Assistant Director of SkanSports
Susan has been an integral part of the SkanStrength family for over 6 years, seamlessly transitioning to our latest venture, SkanSports. From her early days as a dedicated gym member, Susan's journey led her to a fulfilling role as Assistant Director at SkanSports after retiring from her 30-year teaching career in Special Education.
Throughout her more than three decades as a resident of Skaneateles, Susan has not only raised her family in the town but has also contributed significantly to its betterment. Even in retirement, she continues to showcase her unwavering dedication to the community by pouring her heart and soul into her work at SkanSports.
Intern Strength & Conditioning Coach
Nate has been an integral part of SkanStrength and now SkanSports for over 6 years. Nate has been a part of the sports performance program for over 6 years. As Nate's passion for training grew, it sparked a desire to begin training others.
Following his high school graduation, Nate made the decision to deepen his understanding of the coaching profession. After enrolling in human anatomy & physiology courses and accompanying subjects, he secured an internship with the program where his journey began.
Currently, Nate serves as the Intern Strength & Conditioning Coach alongside Coach Dan. He actively participates in session management, exuding positivity as a role model, engaging with the participants, motivating them, and forming meaningful connections with all participants.
Nate also serves as an Operations Assistant for SkanSports.
