Our Story

SkanStrength started small in 2017—just a 500-square-foot personal training studio beneath a local bar across from Tops grocery store. In 2018, we moved to a slightly larger space (800 square feet) in the basement below what's now Skaneateles Brewery.

When 2020 arrived, we expanded to the front half of our current location, only to face complete closure during the early COVID pandemic. From June to November 2020, we trained members outdoors under our building's awning. Despite losing nearly 75% of our membership, our family overcame these challenges and eventually added 3,300 square feet of turf sports space.

Since then, we've transformed from a modest personal training studio into a comprehensive health and play destination. A major milestone in our growth was the creation of "The Neighborhood Games"—our sports and recreation branch that continues to expand with diverse offerings from traditional sports to chess, art programs, and seasonal activities.

Today, SkanStrength is a complete fitness, wellness, sports, and recreation facility that serves not just our immediate community but neighboring towns as well. Our services now extend far beyond our physical walls with fitness programs for all ages, wellness services including chiropractic care and acupuncture, and our ever-evolving Neighborhood Games activities.

What began as a simple dream has evolved into something much bigger—a community hub where health and play come together. We're proud to have grown with the welcoming community that embraced us as we continue to develop our ever-expanding array of services and activities.
